Increase in Short Breaks by Ferry-Goers

summer-ferry-dfdsDFDS Seaways has reported a record number of passengers using its Newcastle to Amsterdam route in summer 2013.

Over 65,000 passengers sailed from North Shiels to the Dutch Port during August, up 4,000 from last year.

Max Foster, passenger director for DFDS Seaways, said: “Every ferry sailing on our Newcastle to Amsterdam route in August was fully booked, which is a fantastic achievement, especially given the continuing tough economic conditions.”

“As the summer draws to a close and autumn approaches, we are continuing to see a trend towards passengers taking more mini-breaks rather than longer and more expensive holidays.”

DFDS Seaways Newcastle to Amsterdam Ferry leaves daily at 5pm and arrives at 9.30am the next morning in Amsterdam.
