World’s Largest Cruise Ship Visits Port of Tyne

The MSC Magnifica arrived in the Port of Tyne yesterday with 3,500 passengers. Port of Tyne is only one stop for The MSC Magnifica on its cruise around Britain.

Port of Tyne’s chief executive Andrew Moffat said: “We are really delighted to welcome the first cruise ship of the year to the Tyne.

“The fact she is one of the biggest cruise ships in the world highlights the Port of Tyne’s growing popularity as a destination for cruises.”

“The record number of cruise ships in the Tyne last year – 36 – brought 62,000 visitors, who make a significant contribution to the region’s economy.

“With one in eight holidays in the world now taken on cruises, we are aiming to increase our market share and promoting the region as a major cruise destination.”
